Welcome to the Indesign Help page
Below are frequent Grep expressions and useful scripts that deal with common tasks by any Hebrew or English typesetter.
Please feel free to share this page with others!
Copy and Paste these expressions into your Grep Find and Search Dialogue Box, leave the Change To field empty, and search all/selected text to Delete the unwanted characters. (Note that when you copy and paste these codes into the dialogue box, the numbers seem to disappear – but it still works.)
Find Taamim and Nikud from Hebrew text: [<0590>-<05CF>]
Find just Taamim from Hebrew text: [<0590>-<05AF>]
Find just Nikud from Hebrew text: [<05AF>-<05CF>]
Find all Hebrew characters: [<0590>-<05FF>]
Note that some fonts use a different character map for many of the Hebrew characters. The following script, written by In-Tools script-master Harbs, replaces the old characters with the standard ones, allowing to find them using the Grep expression above. Place the script in the script panel and run it to fix the encoding.

The following script, also written by In-Tools script-master Harbs, replaces the nikud that was done out of order with nikud in order, so that a dagesh or dot does not displace the other nikud characters.
